Duty of Care. Whose Rights? A Guide for Staff working with People with Disabilities.,,,

Book

Today it is no longer acceptable for services to stifle choice and the individuality of people in their care. Instead services now have very clear responsibilities to operate in ways that are genuinely enabling and empowering. Nevertheless they still have responsibility to ensure that people are not unreasonably exposed to risks of abuse or danger. This book gives a very clear and useful account of the dilemmas which staff may face when advancing and upholding the rights of people with disability in their service. Staff are assisted to think through situations in an informed and enlightened manner. While legal, moral and ideological issues are discussed, and it attempts to provide some basic information about what the law says, it is not a legal textbook. Keywords: Legal, Professionals.
