Prof. Sapon Shevin emphasises that good teaching practice for special education is good teaching for all students. She stresses the importance of establishing a sense of community in the classroom and of utilising peers rather than over-dependence on aides. She also stresses the value of co-operative learning and offers some great practical examples of curriculum modification which show the importance of using a flexible approach and making use of everyday opportunities within the classroom. Also included is a checklist of supports that need to be in place for successful inclusion.
