What Restraints Teach

Written Material

In this article Pat Amos uses examples to explain how behavioural restraints instil fear and distrust rather than achieving co-operation. She offers five negative lessons that restraints teach, saying behavioural restraint is a quick fix rather than a solution. Amos believes that for behavioural change to take place, good communication is essential, i.e. it is important to understand the person and build up a relationship with them.
