The authors write, "Our aim in this book is to show how community education can become a reality and although it may take many forms, the goal remains the same: the full participation of disabled people in community life. The book is written primarily for professional staff in services for disabled people. We argue that they are the people who should take most responsibility for educating their fellows as they are unique mediators between..two worlds - living in one, yet earning their livelihood in the other. Equally disabled people themselves have become increasingly active in challenging the public's attitudes towards them. We hope that they, their families and friends will find our suggestions helpful." (p.11). Keywords: Community Development, Professionals
