This study was conducted to try and determine why Chinese American families of children with disabilities living in America made little use of the resources available. It was realised than an understanding of cultural and social perspectives is essential in order to properly support these families. The findings in this paper details the confusion, lack of understanding, anger and feelings of powerlessness experienced by Chinese American families. It discusses some of the barriers and highlights some ways of overcoming these barriers. Keywords: Cross Cultural, Families
