Permanency planning involves family preservation, family reunification, and finding alternative families for children who cannot remain with their birth families. Nancy Rosenau asserts that not enough attention has been given to policy and practice around permanency planning in the USA and that more effort is needed both in helping families work through the issues that permanency raises, and in finding alternative families where appropriate.
