Dreams turn to dust when we set up yet another 'service'

Written Material

In this article, Jim Betteridge reminds us how easy it is to keep thinking in terms of 'services' and not individual wishes - i.e. we create the project and then try to find 'clients' to place in it. He urges us instead to think of the individual and ask him/her "What would you like to do?" - and then work to make this happen. Most importantly, he urges us to think creatively and to recognise the role that the local community, with its diverse talents, skill and ingenuity, can play in helping people with disabilities pursue their interests.
