Elizabeth Ainsworth, an Occupational Therapist at Nambour Hospital, NSW, presents the details of a study aimed at discovering employer attitudes towards hiring workers with a mild disability with a view to exploring strategies that could be developed to increase employer receptivity. The data gathered revealed a willingness to hire, especially by service industry firms. Respondents preferred people with previous experience which highlighted the need for the development of social and job skills in workers to assist their search for inclusive employment.
