Encourage Friendships for Children with Disabilities

This article contains suggestions for encouraging friendships for children with disabilities. For younger children, this includes being open to friendship development and the child's choices, teaching the child to interact with his peers in play, educating peers and using play materials in activities that encourage interaction. Successful strategies for older children are also outlined. A list of winning strategies is included.
