Service brokerage grew out of parents' dissatisfaction with the traditional approaches to responding to the needs of people with disabilities and their families. It allows for funding to be allocated to the individual and to be used flexibly according to that person's needs, assisted by a broker and the individual's personal network. This booklet defines four models of service brokerages and uses the example of Kieran to show how service brokerage can meet the needs of people with disabilities more effectively. It also addresses some of the issues raised by service brokerage. Keyword: Individualisation
