Hands-on inclusion in a tech. ed. setting

Written Material

This short article details one school's experience with inclusion in tech. ed. (in NSW such subjects as woodwork, metalwork or technical drawing). With a belief in inclusion and appropriate adaptations, students with very high support needs participated and greatly benefited from the structured, hands-on learning experiences and gave students tangible awards for their technical accomplishments. Students surpassed many people's expectations - including parents - and these people had a chance to discover new talents and capabilities within the students, sons and daughters. This article also has relevance to TAFE settings in NSW. Keyword: Education, School age. Searchword: Tertiary
