Service brokerage has been identified as a mechanism to achieve the empowerment of individuals with disabilities. This book takes a look at the 'ideal' of service brokerage and argues that this model will only achieve its aim of individual empowerment if it is viewed as one part of a three part 'support nucleus'. This 'nucleus' involves a decision making structure comprising the person and their support network, funding tagged to that individual, and the service broker. The authors analyse all three components of the model. (It is recommended to read this book in conjunction with File No. 10100). Keywords: Individualisation, Self Determination
