In this article, the author is not talking about intentional communities of people with a disability coming together, but rather mixed communities forming around shared interests. He argues that such communities foster interdependence and for individuals who have a disability. This means less reliance on paid support. He also suggests that we need to be more flexible in our thinking and concentrate on meeting individual needs and desires rather than assuming we know what's right for people. While he acknowledges possible concerns in connection with intentional communities of attachment, he suggests that these are options worth considering when considering individual needs and desires.
