A mother acknowledges her young daughter's vulnerability to being ridiculed and physically hurt, and outlines the ways in which her family endeavours to protect Lindsay and ensure her safety. She talks of the importance of family, and of her belief that it is only by her daughter being included in all aspects of her community, and being surrounded by a group of friends, that she will remain safe. She writes "To fear community only gives space for us and Lindsay to become victims". Her own fears about this decision are discussed, but she argues that with proper safeguards, her daughter should be allowed to take risks. See also files No. 10710, 10103 and 10633.
