One person at a time: How one agency changed from group to individualized services for people with disabilities

Book

This book documents the transformation of Onondaga Community Living (OCL), a provider of residential services for people with disability. In the late 1980s, OCL operated several group homes, the limitation of which became apparent as staff and board members became better acquainted with the people being served. The service evolved to pioneer a 'bottom up' approach whereby professionals and family members assist each individual to plan supports based on their unique needs. Personal vignettes from the perspective of people with disability, parents and staff are embedded in the book, bringing the meaningful work of OCL to life.
