Race and disability: Just a double oppression?

Written Material

This paper looks at the situation of black people with disabilities (used by the author to mean all non white peoples) living in Britain. The author argues that rather than experiencing what is often referred to as a "double oppression", people with this identity respond to their experiences with an outlook shaped by all parts of their identity. The author also presents an account of the forces in a racist society which impact on black people living with disability. Keyword: Cross Cultural
