Rapid Entry Training Field Manual

Book

Some two hundred and fifty employees who also have intellectual disabilities have been trained in award jobs via the Rapid Entry Training System (RET). RET is a "place-then-train" model where resources are directed toward training the worker in the job and the actual work environment in which he is expected to perform. The Manual begins at the point at which a position in open employment is secured for a job seeker. The chapters which follow describe how to prepare the employer and the job for the worker, how to prepare the worker and her/his family for the job, how to motivate the worker, how to enhance the work environment, how to equip the worker with the skills necessary to adequately perform the job and how to withdraw support. The system is adaptable to suit the individual worker and her/his prospective work situation (p.6). Keyword: Employment
