This conference provided the first opportunity for senior policy makers in each of Australia's States and Territories working in the field of school integration to come together to discuss current and future directions of education policy. By the early 1990s, the access of students with disabilities to regular education differed significantly from state to state - they had interpreted the term "integration" differently. These differences, the problems they caused and what might be done to solve them, were the subject of discussion at the conference. Keywords: Education, School age
