Written Material
Download

This article discusses the importance of Social Role Valorization (SRV) theory, arguing that it speaks to universal, timeless truths of human nature. SRV raises consciousness and concern about the fate of socially devalued people, as well as providing individuals an action theory with which to take a stand. SRV proposes positive strategies of program and community change, recognising that the inherent propensity for social devaluation can be overcome if systemic structures encourage attitude change. The socially valued are encouraged to ally themselves with the devalued on a personal and societal level.
