An interesting resource which focuses on beliefs and values, and the effects these have on families who come from a different cultural background. Generally this article blows the myth that all research can be and is done within an objective, valueless framework. Specifically, the article is divided into three 'discussions'. The first discussion looks at the role researcher's values have on shaping the conceptual framework they use to study culturally diverse families. The second challenges researchers to recognise that there are multiple world perspectives that all have value. Lastly, there is information on the processes researchers can use to develop broader perspectives on the study of culturally diverse families - the authors therefore ultimately argue that new ways of 'seeing' and 'thinking' can ultimately lead to new ways of 'doing' in the lives of all families (what the authors call "more appropriate interventions").
